Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q: Can you remove the virus or malware from my PC or laptop without taking it away?
  • A: We could, but it’s a matter of cost to most home users - the procedure we use can easily take 10 hours to make sure all malware and viruses are removed, plus being stuck with us in your home for this time would not be very convenient for you. It’s much cheaper for you to allow us to take your computer away and do the work.

  • Q: I don’t like the thought of you snooping around in my My Documents folder!
  • A: We WON’T, guaranteed! Unlike other companies, we have a strict policy of no intrusion in any of the folders in the My Documents hierarchy. You would have to specifically request us to look at, or manipulate, any files or folders in the My Documents hierarchy. Only our virus and malware checking software will check these folders. If you are having problems with a specific file we normally ask you to place it on the desktop for us to work on.

  • Q: Why don’t you take cheques?
  • A: Cost. It’s very expensive for businesses to deal with cheques, unlike home users it actually costs businesses to deposit and write cheques. Plus we also get charged for the privilege of going to the bank to deposit them...
We do accept many other debit and credit cards though, plus we also accept cash.

  • Q: I’ve opened a software package I ordered, and found I don’t need it / don’t like it / etc.. Can I return it for a refund?
  • A: Unfortunately, no. We can not express how important it is not to open the software seal unless you are absolutely sure you want to keep it, as we can not refund it. Please make sure that you try the demo versions of software that you are interested in first, this way you are MUCH less likely to make expensive mistakes.

  • Q: My computer is acting weird after you removed the virus/malware that was infecting my system. Or, a program that I used to use is now gone after you removed the virus/malware. What’s gone wrong?
  • A: This is quite common, and is not ‘caused’ by us. Sometimes when removing a virus or malware that has infected your system, infected files can be damaged by the removal process. This can normally be put right by reinstalling the application that is causing the problem.
Malware can come in many different forms - some pretend to be useful programs that you use to ‘help’ you manage your computer. Often they do the opposite...
In any event, we can advise you what to do.

  • Q: I want to be super safe and install 2 internet security programs, what do you recommend?
  • A: Don’t do it! Seriously! It will make your computer crawl to a halt. It’s best to have ONLY 1 internet security software suite installed. If you want to be ‘super safe’ you can use one of the internet based virus and malware scanning services like Comodo’s Online Scanner, Trend Micro’s Housecall, or Panda’s Activescan, or ESET Online scanner as a weekly double check.

  • Q: Will you buy my old computer?
  • A: Occasionally we might. But we recommend you sell your old system on Ebay, or another reputable auction site, but please remember to delete ALL your personal data first! Use a drive cleaner to wipe your personal data.

  • Q: I require URGENT emergency assistance! What number do I call?
  • A: If you require truly URGENT emergency assistance, IE along the lines of: ‘My computer won’t switch on and I need to print out an urgent report for work tomorrow’, then call 07977 509 653 day or night.

  • Q: Surely you cant be cheaper than some of the big computer stores for software / hardware?
  • A: Yes we can, and you’d be surprised what else we’re cheaper for too. A prime example is security software - we currently charge £36 for Comodo Internet Security Pro 2013 if it’s installed on a new, or second hand PC, or only £30 if installed as part of one of the services we offer.  We also offer bulk discounts on Comodo if you’re purchasing more than 3, 5 or 10 licenses.
